I'm sad to say that Rap will be leaving the Club and the racetrack and pursuing a new career, hopefully as a broodmare.
For as much talent as she showed in the mornings, loved the attention and enjoyed jogging and training she wanted no part of actual racing.
In contrast to the thrills she gave us last year she now seems to be overwhelmed by the excitement and close quarters of racing.
We really appreciate the time and efforts of both the Hudon and Archibald stables.
We have a few 'irons in the fire' to work out something that will give her a new lease and provide the Club (and Carl) a new horse.
She is well-bred and of good proportions and I think she can produce some nice horses. In an ideal world, I would love to keep a piece of her myself (along with a small group), get her bred and see what comes of that but ... I know that particular scenario is quite unlikely.
I will (we all will) be wishing her well from afar.
